• "Alone/Alive" group show at The I-Fell in Bloomington

Please join us at the I-Fell on Friday November 4th in Bloomington, Indiana for the opening reception of "Alone/Alive", featuring works from Alyssa Noelle Many, Mike Waddell, Kristi Robinson, and Bradley Jacob Cox. The reception will be held at 415 W. 4th Street 47404 from 6pm-9pm.

    Alone-Alive

The concept for this exhibit was born when the four of us discussed commonalities that existed in all of our work. In our various mediums, we’ve found that, first and foremost, we tend to work alone in bringing our creations to life. Others may become involved, but in the end the work we do starts from a solitary idea. In life, the experience of being alone can carry a number of emotions from sorrow to joy. Being alone can mean solitude, isolation, emptiness, or a fullness one can barely contain. We come into the world alone, but throughout our time here we are acted upon by a number of forces – nature; the seasons and weather; other people; our surroundings; and the influence of our family, community, and the world at large. How we respond to being alone, and thus alive, is an individual and highly personal experience. In our work, we seek to explore the various facets of aloneness/aliveness and reflect on how individual experiences and collective opinions interpret the meaning behind these works. These pieces – revealed to each of us during personal, quiet moments – have been brought to life in an effort to communicate with the world outside of us.

  • Show up now at Gather Shoppe in Bloomington!

You can view my most recent paintings from the series, "We Are Together" at Gather Shoppe in the Fountain Square Mall in Bloomington, Indiana --just off the downtown square. This series narrates my awareness of our ephemeral lives. By including my deceased relatives in the same setting as my living mother and myself, I am acknowledging that our bodies are mortal, but our energy is constant. This series begins with the spotlight on my mother at age nineteen. With hesitation anticipation in her eyes, mother appears to be all alone on a body of water. This series is a work in progress, and I am currently showing the first three completed paintings at Gather.

  • Recent Works by Alyssa Mahern and Danielle Urschel on display at Blueline Gallery in Bloomington, Indiana now through June 1st.

Mahern’s series illustrates her psychological and spiritual explorations and understandings over the past five years, including: looking for a home, then realizing that the entire planet is our home; coming to the conclusion that we are one; desire; and finding a best friend.

Urschel’s work captures a glimpse of hope in winter, a single moment caught in moonlight, the infinite battle between failure and triumph.
